A2LA, established in 1978, is one of the large, independent and reputed accreditation organizations in the US. A2LA is a founding member and plays an important role in International organizations such as International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC), Asia Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (APLAC), and is an active member of International Accreditation Forum (IAF). Besides, A2LA is recognized and participated in international recognition arrangements with many other international accreditation organizations such as APLAC Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA), IAF Multilateral Recognition Arrangement (MLA); and was recognized by various agencies and organization in the US, Europe, Canada, Japan and Hong Kong for accreditation competence of testing and calibration laboratories, medical laboratories, proficiency testing, certification, inspection organizations, etc. All A2LA accreditation programs are based on internationally accepted standards
Ms. Tessie Gamber, a Filipino American, is an assessor from A2LA. She has 27 years of experience in the field of assessment, accreditation of testing laboratories, calibration laboratories based on ISO 17025. On August 12th, Ms. Tessie Gamber opened the assessment program for VinaCert laboratory; declared the scope of assessment and accreditation. Then she started assessing procedures, documents, and forms of VinaCert Laboratory quality management system.

On the 13th of August 2014, A2LA assessors conducted a witness on the competence of chemical testing technicians at VinaCert-Ha Noi testing laboratory. A2LA’s assessment team leader witnessed, assessed the process of receiving samples, controlling sample, interviewed staff, evaluated records and technical operations of testers during the chemical analysis procedure.

On August 14th, A2LA assessors witnessed the competence of VinaCert staffs in the field of biology. The assessors witnessed and assessed the processes of samples receiving and handling, and technical operations on analyzing microbiological criteria in food and animal feed

On August 15th, A2LA’s assessors closed the assessment process at VinaCert-Ha Noi laboratory and offered its preliminary audit results.

In the early afternoon, assessors presented the preliminary results of the 4-day assessment at VinaCert-Ha Noi laboratory. Ms. Tessie Gamber stated that the laboratory quality management system was relatively sufficient and staffs’ skills were satisfactory with strong knowledge. However, she also pointed out some unconformities need to be corrected in VinaCert-Hanoi laboratory.
From the 16th to the 21st of August 2014, A2LA’s assessors would move to VinaCert-Can Tho laboratory proceed the assessment on the system of records and witness the competence of testers in the fields of chemistry and biology.

She once again thanked VinaCert for choosing A2LA and highly appreciated the cooperation attitude of VinaCert’s staffs. However, during the assessment, she also pointed out some unconformities and asked for detailed explanation from VinaCert.
